Never released Shimmer toys are shown below. All items on this page with the New button beside them were never actually released;  they were intended to debut in 1987.  There is a new bird, butterfly, deer, centaur and mermaid.  In addition, prototypes for Zebra and Seahorse Shimmers were made as well.  There were even plans for two special playsets that were never released.

The 1987 Shimmers line-up is impressive to say the least.  The most probable cause for the short stay of the Shimmers line could be due to high overhead costs.  Shimmers couldn't have been inexpensive to make, so the profit margin suffered.

Wonderfall Play Set

The Wonderfall Play Set is a beautiful playset that was intended as an oasis for all your Shimmer figurines.  It comes with several features:  Waterfall (when operative) covers a special hidden cave, secret slide for Baby Shimmers, diving board and wading pool, romantic grotto, steps large enough to sit any figure, two palm trees and a tree swing, large bush doubles as a picnic table and baby cradle.  Accessories included:  4 dishes, 2 glasses, 2 beach towels, toy boat, toy shovel, beach pail, lotion bottle, life preserver, sunglasses, visor, label sheet.

Also included was sweet baby Sparkler.  She is a baby Butterfly with a pink body, teal green butterfly chest, yellow wings, yellow hair, pink crown accent, and brown eyes.  She stands in the standard baby Butterfly pose and is shown below.

Shimmers Family Set

A sweet centaur family, this set would have included all three dolls and accessories.  Accessories include:  white skirt with aqua shimmering accents for Mom, a pearlised leaf carriage for Dad to pull (pink wheels), and and deep purple flower (with swirls) comb.

Mist (Mother) has a pink body that fades to purple.  She has purple hair and eyes and aqua leaf accents around her chest.  Mother and father can hold hands.
Swiftburst (Father) has a blue body that fades to aqua.  He has a yellow curly mane and straight tail, brown eyes, and a purple belt (molded around the waist).  Mother and father can hold hands.
Flicker (Baby) had a purple body and blue shirt.  She has pink hair, blue eyes, and blue bow accents.
