From 1981 to 1982, My Little Pony was officially born. In 1981, the My Pretty Pony line initially began the wheels of motion for My Little Pony. More information about the first line and for the Original Prototype Sketches show how MLP evolved. The first ponies, shown below, were amazing similar to My Pretty Pony. Both have the same rigid form and style. However, Hasbro gave these ponies pretty colors and symbols, which was a good move for them, making My Little Pony an instant success. Note that these ponies came in cards that simple read My Little Pony as the title. The card no where indicated that these are collector ponies; this is only the name that collectors use to refer to them. Click here to see them mint in the original packages! These six ponies were the first official My Little Pony releases. They were sold in the U.S. and abroad. Each is an earth pony, in the collector's pose, and has various colors and symbols. There are two types of Collector Ponies, those released in 1982 with flat hooves and those released in 1983 released with concave hooves. The only other flat foot pony release in the U.S. was Peachy. Each in what is referred to as the Collector's Pose. The Collector's Pose is unique to all other poses in that the head and body faces rigidly forward.
