::My Little Pony Information::
::U. S. Ponies and Friends-1982::

From 1981 to 1982, My Little Pony was officially born.  In 1981, the My Pretty Pony line initially began the wheels of motion for My Little Pony.  More information about the first line and for the Original Prototype Sketches show how MLP evolved.  The first ponies, shown below, were amazing similar to My Pretty Pony. Both have the same rigid form and style.  However, Hasbro gave these ponies pretty colors and symbols, which was a good move for them, making My Little Pony an instant success.

Note that these ponies came in cards that simple read My Little Pony as the title. The card no where indicated that these are collector ponies; this is only the name that collectors use to refer to them. Click here to see them mint in the original packages!

These six ponies were the first official My Little Pony releases.  They were sold in the U.S. and abroad.  Each is an earth pony, in the collector's pose, and has various colors and symbols.  There are two types of  Collector Ponies, those released in 1982 with flat hooves and those released in 1983 released with concave hooves.  The only other flat foot pony release in the U.S. was Peachy. Each in what is referred to as the Collector's Pose.  The Collector's Pose is unique to all other poses in that the head and body faces rigidly forward.

Minty is green with white hair with green shamrocks or clovers.  She has baby blue eyes.  She is pictured 2nd, top row.

Snuzzle is gray with pink hair and pink hearts.  She has blue eyes. She is similar to Peachy; who has the same pink heart symbol; sometimes she is mistakenly called by that name.  She is pictured 1st, bottom row.

They were reissued in stores in 1983 and had concave feet, and were changed just slightly.

How do you tell a flat-foot pony from a concave foot pony?
All ponies produced in the United States had concave feet except for the first release of the Collector Ponies.  Flat foot ponies are often indicated or nicknamed by the term FF; whereas, concave foot ponies are often indicated by CF.   Flat foot ponies will have flat feet like those pictured below.  Concave foot collectors ponies will have feet like all later MLP's from 1983-1991; rounded upward inside and do not have grooved circles carved into the hooves.
