Year 3 Accessories (1984) (U.S.)

In 1984, Baby Ponies were born; they would become immensely popular and well loved by all My Little Pony Mommies. Aside from Baby Ponies and the classic Megan and Sundance, many ponies from Year 3 were second sets. The Rainbow Ponies, Unicorns and Pegasus, Earth Ponies, and Sea Ponies were all second releases.
About the new editions to the family: Baby Sea Ponies and Baby Ponies were added in this year. Baby Ponies came with the most accessories ever sold (aside from playsets), they came with a bottle, diaper, and other accessories. Baby Sea Ponies came with a special float (instead of a shell like adult Sea Ponies).
In 1984, Firefly's Adventure was released as a television special; My Little Pony had officially made it into television. A very public figure on television, Megan was made into a doll and sold with Sundance. The pair would always be sold together, and sold in several different releases.
Another baby pony named Ember would become part of the pony line as well. She was sold as a Mail Order this year, as well as another version that came with a tape.

The Baby Buggy has a white basket basin with a pink canopy
and white lace trim
around
the basin and canopy. There is a pink heart topper on the top of the buggy
and a lavender ribbon. The buggy has purple wheels with pink and white
flower centers. The push bar also has pink and white flower accents. It came with a
lavender teddy brush, bottle, pillow, blanket, rattle, diaper, and baby bonnet for Baby
Cuddles. She came with a puffy sticker. There is also a Princess
Baby Buggy which comes with Baby Princess Sparkle. The colors Princess
Buggy is bright pink and covered in sparkles.
Baby Cuddles (earth pony) is pale blue or pale aqua with pink hair and a
pink
baby rattle symbol. She has three white freckles on her
nose and deep
aqua green
eyes. Her eyes are an odd color and she has a forelock.
She has non beddy-bye eyes; this a common term for a regular eyed pony that has
a Beddy Bye Eyes version.
There are two versions of Baby Cuddles; the other is a Beddy Bye Eyes pony.
Beddy-Bye Eyes Cuddles was released with the Baby Buggy as a Mail
Order
and she was also released in stores in Year
4. International versions are mostly the same; however, there is
a Brazilian version
of Baby Cuddles.

Thanks to Joanne for the photograph of the buggy and Baby
Cuddles.
Ember's Dream
Please note: Ember is also listed
under U. S. ponies, but technically she's not a pony. She's part of a
tape set, so I am listing her in accessories as
well! She is almost technically an accessory item instead of a pony item,
since did come with the tape and was sold more under the Listen 'n Fun title
instead of the My Little Pony title.
Ember (store version) is lavender with purple
hair and a white star. She has deep purple eyes.
The store version of ember came with a tape and was called "Ember's Dream." She
is often referred to as the very first baby pony, ember with a star, or the
store version of Ember.

Three other versions of Ember were available through mail
order: blue, pink, and lavender with no symbols. It's
odd that there are four Embers, why, no one knows.
Odd fact: You may also hear her referred to as Amber. It's not really a mispronunciation because there were cassette tapes sold with Amber instead of Ember.
The Tape itself, "Ember's Dream is about her wanting to be like the Rainbow Ponies. She coveted their beauty she wanted to be like they were. She had a dream that a man would come and steal their lovely locks (for personal profit). She warned them, they didn't listen, and Ember's dream came to life. The Rainbow Ponies had short hair for a while.
She is almost technically an accessory item instead of a pony item, since did come with the tape and was sold more under the Listen 'n Fun title instead of the My Little Pony title.

The Lullabye Nursery is a large, white pony nursery with a pink roof and

Three editions of the Lullabye Nursery were produced, the first
was in 1984-5 and came with NBBE Baby Tiddlywinks (with freckles), this edition.
The second
release came with Beddy Bye Eyes Tiddlywinks. The third
release of the Lullabye Nursery was much like the second,
except Non Beddy Bye Eye Tiddlywinks was issued instead of the Beddy Eye version
(second edition). The second and third editions have the same
alternate accessories. Several accessories have "switched
colors".
Pictured below is the inside view of the third edition Lullabye Nursery
but it gives a good idea of what the regular Nursery looks like.
Differences in the first edition include a pink dresser, blue tub, blue bowl,
pink holder (holds bottle and dish), and a blue mirror. The edition below
shows the switched colors.

Baby Tiddlywinks (earth pony) is pink (some call her lavender) with pink hair and
has a
white bib (with blue heart accent) for her symbol. She has three white freckles on her nose.
This version does not have beddy-eyes.
Three versions of Baby Tiddlywinks were made. Two of
them came with the Lullabye Nursery. The first and third editions sold had Non Beddy
Eyed Baby Tiddlywinks with freckles (picture below). The
second edition came with Beddy
Bye Eyes Baby Tiddlywink (see Lullabye Nursery). The last edition was
a Mail Order sold with the Playset Ponies, Non Beddy Eyed Baby Tiddlywinks without freckles.
International versions are mostly the same; however, there is a Brazilian
version of Baby Tiddlywinks.
