1990-1991 International My Little
Ponies

Activity Club Pony: Baby Bridesmaid
These ponies are mail order ponies;
there were a total of four. They were available in the United Kingdom
through activity club equivalent to the U. S. Fan
Clubs. Baby Pony--1989, Baby
Fun 'n Games--1991. Each are listed in their individual year.
See the Fan
and Activity Club section for more information.
Baby Bridesmaid (earth
pony) is white with blue hair and a silver top hat, horseshoe, and hearts. She
has purple eyes and is in Dangles pose. Her right back hoof is slightly bent to the back. She is very
similar to Dangles
in that they share the same pose, hair color and style, and eye color.

The Flower Ponies made their debut with three earth ponies and a Pegasus. Each has floral symbols as did many other ponies. However, their floral symbol is notable because each has a bouquet of flowers tied with a ribbon. Each flower bouquet corresponds to the pony's name. Fittingly, each also came with a flowers comb.
Related sets: Flower Fantasy Ponies, Bridal Beauty, Precious Pocket Pony Sweet Pocket (U. K. Singing Pocket), Sweetheart Sister Ponies, Twice as Fancy Bonnie Bonnets, and Flutter Ponies.

Bluebell (Pegasus) is dark pink with blue hair. Her symbol is blue bluebells
tied with a blue ribbon.

Belle. She is Collector Pony and bears little resemblance to this
version.

Daffodil (earth pony) is aqua with yellow hair and yellow daffodils tied
yellow ribbon. She has light yellow eyes and is standing in Parasol's
pose. There is a Mail Order Birthflower
Pony named Daffodil also.

The Schooltime Ponies were ready to go to school. It may seem odd that these adults are related to school, since adults do not attend school. Musictime is pictured on the Schoolhouse as a teacher, so perhaps they could be the teacher type. Rather than teachers, they could be also be students, though I am not sure which. They are all earth ponies and their names are based on U. K. backcards.
Each Schooltime Pony also came with a special bag. The bag is similar to a satchel or carry-all bag, being a clear material with orange accents. They also came with A-B-C combs, which weren't available in the United States.
Related Sets: The Playschool Baby Ponies are also ready for school. The Schoolhouse was a playset where all the ponies could go to learn. Oddly enough, school related ponies and playsets were not sold in the U. S.

Musictime (earth pony) is yellow with purple hair and a pink triangle with
blue
musical notes
surrounding it. She has pink freckles on her cheek and purple eyes.
She is standing in Up, Up, and Away's pose.

Paintingtime (earth pony) is pink with yellow hair and an aqua green pallet
and red brushes. She has
pink freckles on her cheek. She has lavender eyes and is standing in
Sugarberry's pose. She is sometimes nicknamed ArtTime. This nickname
originates from the German to English translation. Paintingtime is the
official name on the UK card.

Playtime (earth pony) is aqua green with dark pink hair and a yellow and blue
jump rope symbol. She has pink freckles on her cheek and pink eyes.
She is in Tootsie's pose.

Sportstime (earth pony) is blue with yellow or golden hair and yellow soccer
ball with pink accents. He/She has pink freckles on his/her cheek and
lavender eyes. I am unclear as to whether this pony is actually a male or
female. In the comics, Sportstime was a male. There is some
confusion as to which he/she actually is.

The Playschool Babies have two common features:
school-related symbol and pink freckles on the
cheeks. Babies with freckled cheeks weren't sold at all in the U. S.
The U. S. babies only had freckles on their noses.
Three My Little Pony sets were sold in close succession: the Playschool Babies, the Schooltime Ponies, and the Schoolhouse. All school related ponies came with similar accessories, either an A-B-C comb or a 1-2-3-4 comb. Each Playschool Baby came with a 1-2-3-4 comb.
The Playschool Babies were issued in the late 80's or early 90's. A lot of confusion has been caused over the correct names of these babies, however, listed below is how they are listed on their cards.

Baby Alphabet (earth pony) is purple with yellow hair and the letter E in upper and lower case manuscript on a white book. She has pink freckles on her cheeks.

Baby Count-a-lot (earth pony) is white with blue hair and a yellow abacus

striped crayons. She has pink freckles on her cheeks and aqua green eyes.
Her eyes are not the same powder blue as her body; they have a definite green
tint. She stands in Baby Firefly's pose. Thanks to Inglemist for

Baby Schoolbag (earth boy pony) is pink with green hair and a red satchel.
He has pink freckles on his
cheeks and green eyes. She stands in Baby
Blossom's pose. There is an alternate version of Baby Schoolbag sold in Holland.
She is called the Baby School Pony and she is completely green with the same
symbol. Thanks to Inglemist for use of this photograph.

Rosette (earth pony)
is
yellow with gold-orange hair with yellow highlights
and three purple and red
prize ribbons. She has orange freckles on her cheeks. She has
deep brown eyes and is in Tootsie's pose. Her hair is naturally curly. The brown eyes are an odd
characteristic, since hardly any ponies came with that eye color. Also her
ribbon symbol is unique only to her only similar to one other pony: Mail Order Blue
Ribbon.
Prize Day Playset includes: an aqua green fence, two
adjustable pole jumps (purple stands/2 yellow bars), two purple 1st-place
winning ribbons (with red accents), purple ribbons stands, pink and white hand brush and white
soap, one gold trophy cup, and a gold heart-shaped grooming brush, white tail ribbon.

listing.
The
Starlight Baby Ponies were the international alternates to Year 8's Baby Sparkle Ponies. The Starlight Baby Ponies have a shiny clear
coating and tinsel in their hair. They have the same symbols as the Baby Sparkle
Ponies, but different names and colors, in some cases.
There seems to be a huge confusion over the names of Stella and Night Song. Stella is white and Night Song is orange, for proof please see the Mint in Package section. It shows the names on the cards. Night Song's name is pronounced with two words, not Nightsong. I have seen two separate U. K. cards and they are both the same.
