(U.S.) My Little Pony Mail Orders {E-P}
Ember, My Beautiful Baby
Pony
Three Embers were available from mail orders. They were sold
in Year 3 (1984) just like the store version Ember.
The store version, unlike the mail orders, had a star symbol.
They were offered in two paper leaflets made only for them under the title Ember
or "My Beautiful Baby Pony". They are some of the more common
Mail Orders. Why are all three named Ember, the world may never know.
Ember's pose was the first pose of this kind,
though you will see many babies in following years with this pose.
Blue Ember (earth pony) all is blue. She is more
of a blue color (like the head
scan on the right) than an aqua color. She has no symbol, and is usually the most sought after of the mail order Embers. She has deep green eyes.
Lavender Ember (earth pony) is lavender with pink hair. She
has no symbol. She has blue eyes. Her eyes can range from pale
blue to
cobalt blue. She can often be confused with Pink Ember, I suggest
looking for these two differences: eye color and hair color. Bodies
are prone to fading or may be difficult to distinguish without the opposing
Ember for color comparison. If the hair has faded, the eye color is the
easiest way to distinguish them.
Pink Ember (earth pony)
is pink with lavender hair. She has
no symbol. She has lavender eyes. Her eyes can range from violet to
deep dark purple. She can often be confused with Lavender Ember, I
suggest looking for these two differences: eye color and hair color.
Bodies are prone to fading or may be difficult to distinguish without the
opposing Ember for color comparison. If the hair has faded, the eye color
is the easiest way to distinguish them.
Goldilocks
Goldilocks (earth pony) is pink with long golden and yellow ringlet
curls
(most of them sold today no longer have the factory curl in hair; her hair is
in gold and yellow swirls), with a bear and porridge symbol. She has blue
eyes and is in the strutting pose. Her hair comes down a little past her hooves.
She is in a Sweetheart
Sister Pony mold. She looks similar to Prom
Queen Sweetheart Sister Pony Pretty Belle, having the same body and hair
colors.
She was offered with her own special color
brochure in
year 8. She was
the only Sweetheart
Sister Pony to be offered as a Mail Order (insert pictured right).

Hollywood
Hollywood (flutter pony) is dark pink with white hair and glittery
silver stars as her
symbol and has a silver star on her right cheek (close up
pictured right). She has purple eyes. Her actual body color is shown
accurately on her symbol scan below.

She was offered in Year 4, 1986; she is the only Mail Order Flutter
Pony to be offered. Flutter Ponies have special delicate wings.
Her color is unique of all flutter ponies, the only other dark pink Flutter
is Wing Song, but
she has blue hair. Her issue was to commemorate My
Little Pony: The Movie. She was not in the actual movie. For
more details regarding the movie, please see the above link.
L'il Tot (Toys for Tots Charity
Pony)
L'il Tot (earth pony) is white with pink curly hair and
has a girl, bear and ball symbol. The girl is purple in color
and is
holding a blue teddy bear and has a blue and white ball behind her. The
little girl also looks like a doll, but it makes more sense for her to be a
girl than a doll, due to the nature of the issue of L'il Tot. You may
hear her called either, though.
She is in the Collector
Pony's pose. She was available via mail order for a cash donation
of x dollars (for Toys for Tots).
When you purchased her, a L'il Tot was also sent to a sick child. She
is similar to the Mail Order Birthflower
Ponies and Mail Order Stockings,
being the same color and having purple eyes. However, they all have different
symbols.
Lucky
Lucky (boy earth pony) is blue with blue hair (mane is
short; it should be that way) with a purple horseshoe for his symbol.
He has
purple eyes. He is not molded like most traditional boy ponies.
His body is larger than the early baby female ponies, and he did not have feathered
feet. Not the little horseshoe lines across the bottom of his hooves.
His mouth is pursed slightly open. He is the first pony to be made in
this mold, though several others followed. He
originally comes with a purple bow tie around his neck.
Related Ponies: Clipper is another blue Mail Order pony in this mold; he has a sailboat symbol.
Other boy ponies in this mold include male siblings of the Loving
Family Ponies. The more common boy males have feathered hooves, the Playtime
Brother Ponies.
Lucky was issued with Satin 'n Lace in Year 4, then later in 1987 for $3.00 + 1
horseshoe point or $3.75 and none. Pictured below is an insert related to
Lucky.
Megan
and Sundance (So Soft version)
Second Edition Megan
and Sundance was offered in several mail order inserts. Megan and So Soft
Sundance were offered in 1987 for $8.50 + 2 horseshoe points. In that
insert Megan, So Soft Sundance, Baby Cuddles and the Baby Buggy were all offered
together for $18.00. The Pony and Girl duo were offered in another 1987
brochure for $8.00 + 2 horseshoe points or $9.00 and none.

Mommy and Baby Pony

Mommy Pony (earth pony) is purple with curly pink hair and a white
mommy and baby kitty for her symbol (there are three pink hearts floating above
the baby kitten). The cats are white with blue shirts. She is in
Bowtie's pose and has purple eyes.
Baby Pony (earth pony) is purple with curly pink hair and a white diaper
symbol. The
diaper pictured the same baby kitty like the one on her symbol and pink hearts
dabbled here and there. She is in Baby Blossom's pose and has purple
eyes. Her painted on diaper was in the same fashion as the Baby
Fancy Pants Ponies.
These two ponies are prone to hair fading; hair will often fade to white. It isn't uncommon to see them with white hair. The have a color that is unique only to these two; the only other pony that has a similar color is Sunshine Pony Beach Ball. There is another adult pony with two cats for her symbol, Happy Tails Tabby symbol features two kittens playing. However, she looks nothing like the Mommy Pony being pink with red hair and a unicorn.
They were released in Year 9, and are some of the more valued mail orders,
selling from $50 to $100 or more. They are pictured with their actual
accessories: duck comb, white bottle, yellow playpen. They were offered in 1990 for $9.95 + 2 horseshoe
points or $11.50 without. They were sold together only as a
set.
Mummy Charms Bracelet
This bracelet came free for just mailing in the
certificate
and $1.50 for shipping and handling. The bracelet
was chain linked (pictured right); I am not sure if it came in other colors
as well. It was offered in 1986, but I think they all came in pink.
The actual charms came in specially marked packages with My Little Ponies.

My
Little Pony Fan Club and (New) My Little Pony Fan Club
The Fan Clubs were offered through brochures that came
with ponies. To join the My Little Pony Club you had to send in x amount of
horseshoe points and money. The My Little Pony Fan Club (first one) cost $5.00
to join. The New My Little Pony Fan Club cost $6.50 + 2 horseshoe points
or $8.00. Both fan clubs came with a large amount of various pony items, such
as charms, posters, and badges. Click on the link above to go to the
My Little Pony Fan Club and New My Little Pony Fan Club page for a listing of
all the items that came with each Fan Club, inserts, and information.
The Playset Ponies were reissues of ponies
that came from playsets, Sprinkles, Lemondrop, Baby Tiddlywinks, Baby Half Note,
and Majesty. They came from Years 2 and 3. Each is very similar to the
original issues and often cause much confusion about the differences. The
differences will be noted in bold print. They were offered in Years 8 and
9.
Baby Half Note (earth pony) is lavender with aqua hair and ballet
slippers; she is not
Beddy-Eyed. She was originally from the Baby Bonnet
School of Dance. Thanks to Rebecca for use of this photograph; please
visit her site: Playset
Accessories Guide.

Baby Tiddly-Winks (earth pony) is pink with a white bib, and she is not
Beddy-Bye Eyed, and doesn't has three white freckles. She was originally from the
Lullabye Nursery.
Lemon Drop (earth pony) yellow with purple hair and purple raindrops.
She is the same as the original, but her feet have writing on all four
hooves instead of two.
She originally came from the Show Stable.
Majesty (unicorn) is white with blue hair and a white streak with five
blue glittery flowers. She is the same as the original, but her hairline is further
up (she has more hair). She originally came from the Dream Castle.
To see the difference in the two ponies, click on the Dream Castle link.
Please note: Several collector's have concurred with me concerning
Majesty's eye color. Her eyes can appear any shade from lavender to purple
to baby blue. It is assumed that Hasbro used various colors of paint when
producing Majesty. Her origin cannot be linked to eye color, each pony
varies. However, many versions are a purple-ish hue, occasionally you will
see them with blue eyes.

Store Version of Majesty sold with Dream Castle
pictured left; Mail Order version pictured right. Why is the Dream Castle
version's hairline so far back; it is often assumed it is because of the crown
that came with her (it would sit more easily on her head with a farther back
hairline).
Sprinkles (Pegasus) is pink with blue hair and blue ducks. She
varies in that she is pink and the store version is lavender. She
originally came with the Waterfall.
Pretty
Parlor (without Peachy)
The Pretty Parlor was offered as a mail order
also, there weren't any oddities about it just the same parlor. It was
first sold in 1985 for $6.00 + 3 horseshoe points; it was sold alongside the Birthflower
and Collector Ponies.
It was offered in 1987, for $7.00 + 2 horseshoes points; alongside Spike, Megan,
Sundance, Rainbow Ponies, Satin 'n Lace, etc. It was sold again in 1985
for $20.00 plus 4 horseshoe points. None of these three versions came with
Peachy.

the Pretty Parlor, please click the above link.
Pony Fashion Tote
The Fashion Tote Was offered in Year 7 for $3.00
+ 1 horseshoe point + the certificate featuring the tote bag. It was a pink
5" x 8 " nylon roll bag with an adjustable strap. It featured the My Little
Pony logo and rainbow with "Always in Fashion" printed underneath it. It was
pictured in the insert with a rainbow colored rainbow logo, but the actual logo
on the bag is yellow.

Pretty Mane Ponies (flutter
mold with no wings and long manes)

These were two very original ponies were had no other similar U.
S. issues, mail order or store version. The actual bodies of the ponies
are similar to the flutter
ponies. The hair was also unique, extremely long manes. The
colors were horizontally striped instead of vertical, no other US pony has this
feature. The tail was a solid color. They were first offered in Year 7
and again in Year 8.
The Family Friends and Family Babies are the only other issue to have this uniquely horizontally striped hair. The Family Friends and Family Babies, however, were only sold Internationally.

Dabble (earth pony) is pink with an all purple tail and a purple and green
mane (horizontally striped purple, green, purple green). She has a long
purple forelock. Her symbol is purple and aqua green squiggles. She
has purple eyes and her pose is unique only to the Pretty Mane Ponies. Her
green hair is often prone to fade to white.![]()
