::My Little Pony Information::
::Dream Beauties (A-Shi)::

The My Little Pony Dream Beauties line were made by Hasbro in Year 8, 1989.  They are considered part of the My Little Pony line because they were packaged with the My Little Pony registered trademark on the box.  However, their body type is considerable different from the standard pony.  Each came boxed with a brush and barrette, and a few sets came with special accessories. If you are interested in the accessories that came with Dream Beauties, please Click here to view them mint in their original packages with an list of all accessories. Dream Beauties were advertised as being "All grown up My Little Ponies." They are adult plastic horses with various colors and each having the standard MLP symbols.

Basic Dream Beauty Stats:

They were released only in Year 8.
Collectors common abbreviation, DB.
There are six different sets, 18 ponies total.
The International versions were basically the same, I know of no known variants.
Two commercials were released regarding Dream Beauties, they pictured real horses in different pastel colors.
I list them as uncommon items, most more common versions run between $15.00-$35.00.
The most common confusion about the Beauties, probably the spelling of the actual names.

They came in three different poses:
Poses are similar and often hard to distinguish, hopefully this simplified explanation will help you.
1. Walking: Both front hooves are placed flat against the ground. Click here for an example.
2. Strutting: With her head and body facing right (like in the example photograph) her right front leg will be curved. Click here for an example.
3. Posing: With her head and body facing right (like in the example photograph) her left front leg will be curved. Click here for an example.

Fake Dream Beauties: When purchasing Dream Beauties for your collection, please take extreme care in your selection.  There are some very convincing replicas of Dream Beauties that differ only by the contour shape of the head, etc. Here are a few tips for telling the differences: Firstly, the most common obvious giveaway will be to look for the beads along the mane of your Dream Beauty, if the horse you have doesn't have them, it's most likely a fake. Other things to look for: they will have some type of symbol, will only come in the three poses above, will have the distinctive Dream Beauty eyes.

Highflying Beauties

Highflying Beauties are Pegasi that have large plastic wings attached to their backs that resemble an eagle's wings or what some might call standard Pegasus' wings. There are three in this set and their legs and muzzles are a different color from their bodies. These are the only Dream Beauties that are not earth ponies. They each have symbols that are related to flying, a Pegasus, balloon, and a bird. Also each has curly hair, or a sort of naturally wavy hair.Each came with a flower brush, double lily barette, and a ribbon.

Glider is white with purple muzzle and hooves. Her hair is pink (very prone to fading white), and she originally has curly hair. She has purple fading to mint green wings and her symbol is an mint green Pegasus flying through pink clouds.  She has lavender eyes with yellow eye shadow, and pink beads on her hairline.

Skyflier is lavender with a blue muzzle and hooves. Her hair is originally white and curly. Her wings are blue fading to silver, and her symbol is four orange heart-shaped balloons.  She has pink eyes with lavender eye shadow, and pink beads on her hairline.

Wind Walker is turquoise with a pink nose and legs. She has purple hair which originally is curly. Her wings are pink fading to a silver-ish lavender. Her symbol is a yellow bird carrying two ribbons (yellow and lavender) surrounded by yellow stars. She has blue or purplish eyes (eye color may vary) with pink eye shadow, and white beads on her hairline. Thanks to Lynn for use of this photograph.

Rainbow Beauties

Rainbow Beauties have multicolored hair of four different colors which is naturally straight. They also have symbols that cover their entire sides in swirling shapes. Perhaps, Rainbow Beauties were inspired by the original Rainbow Ponies, a very popular set of ponies in the My Little Pony line. The symbol style may have been influenced by Twice as Fancy Ponies, which also had symbols covering their entire sides.Each came with a brush or comb and barrette.

Morning Glory is yellow and has green, blue, dark pink, and light pink hair in both her mane and tail. Light pink streak may fade to white. Her symbol is purple and blue swirls that cover her entire sides with a sun symbol on the hip and flying birds surrounding the scene. She has pink beads in her hairline, pink eyes, and lavender eye shadow. Thanks to Lynn for use of this photograph.

Sky Splasher is white with light pink, pink, yellow, green, and blue hair in both her mane and tail. Both pinks may be prone to fading, however the light pink is especially prone to fading. Her symbol is a aqua bird with streams of aqua and pink covering her entire sides. She has pink beads in her hairline, aqua eyes, and blue eye shadow. I am not complete sure as to whether her name is properly spelled Sky Splasher or Skysplasher. Thanks to Lynn for use of this photograph.

Windsweeper is blue with white, pink (prone to fading), aqua green, and blue hair in her mane and tail. Note that her body may appear various color or may also become discolored in spots. She originally a sort of powder blue color. Her symbol is pink and white striped swirls covering her entire sides; the swirls have tiny blue flowers on top of them. She has white beads in her hairline, lavender eyes, and green eye shadow. Thanks to Lynn for use of this photograph.

Shimmering Beauties

Shimmering Beauties are transparent and filled with silver glitter, much like the Sparkle Ponies.  Each have clear beads in their manes, unlike most other Dream Beauties which have solid colored beads.

Each comes with a brush and barrette.

Crystaline is dark blue with white originally curly hair; her symbol is two lavender pink swans with a white and lavender pink heart in between them.  She has lavender eyes, pink eye shadow, and clear beads on her hairline. You will often see her name spelling Crystalline instead of Crystaline. This is because Hasbro's card spells it with only one -l; however, the actual word Crystalline is spelled with two -ll's. It means being made of crystal. So on the Hasbro card it is spelled Crystaline. Thanks to Inglemist for use of this photograph.

Dream Gleamer is dark pink with pink hair (may be prone to fading white); hair is originally curly. Her symbol is a white heart with purple wings and white three hearts streaming down from the main one.  She has blue eyes, aqua green eye shadow, and clear beads on her hairline. Thanks to Diane for use of this photograph.

Stardazzle is orange with dark pink curly hair; her mane and tail are both done in tiny spiral curls. Her symbol is a blue and white heart wreath made up of small flowers.  She has pink eyes, blue green eye shadow, and clear beads on her hairline. Thanks to Diane for use of this photograph.
