Nostalgic Toys from the 1980's

This is just a basic run through of non-MLP items; I am posting this to remember some of the toys of yesteryear.  If you want to see My Little Pony replications that are non-MLP, in other words, knock-offs or fakes, please check out the Fakie Awards section. Please be patient while this page loads, it has many images.

Strawberry Shortcake

Strawberry Shortcake were scented doll friends that had many adventures together.    Strawberry Shortcake is pictured right (wear heat with small strawberry on front), she has many friends also.

Jem

Jem was the truly outrageous doll from the 1980's and ironically enough was the only doll I'd actually play with.  The Jem doll series was also a television show featuring a group of beautiful rock stars who take out time to save the world now and again.

You may remember the actual Jem doll (not pictured) from her flashing earring.  Aja is pictured right.

C. U. T. I. E. S.  Not everyone remembers these, but I remember them from my childhood.  C. U. T. I. E. S. were little colored plastic figures that are very 80's.

They came in different sets (like Rockity Rollers) in sets of ten.  There was also a parallel set called M. U. S. C. L. E. S., that were more action figure type figurines.

Moondreamers

Moondreamers were actually part of the My Little Pony 'n Friends show.  These came in the forms of dolls and friends.

Care Bears

Care Bears were the sweet little bears with special symbols.  They debuted with their own television show and later with Care Bear toys.  A ton of different Care Bear items were made and they are still extremely popular with collector's today.

Fairy Tails

Fairy Tails were special birds with extra long hair and a symbol on their chests.  Each came with a brush and ribbon.  They are often called MLP's and understandably so, since they are made by Hasbro.

Fashion Star Fillies

Were beautiful multicolored horses with stars on their cheeks.  The came with various articles of clothing and accessories and were very flashy.

Keyperskey.jpg (15180 bytes)

Keypers are various creatures that come with special keys that unlock their backs.  The came in various forms, turtles, snails, etc.

Pictured right is a Keyper in its box (click on thumbnail to enlarge).

Astroniks

Okay, so maybe you didn't play with them as a child, but they are remnant of the 80's.  I think for the most part you will remember getting them in McDonald's Happy Meals as a child.

Little Pretty Kitties

Little Pretty Kitties were made my Mattel, I believe.  Each has a little symbol on its rear and comes with lots of accessories.

These are often called My Little Kitties by mistake.

Princess of Power (She-ra)

She-ra was one of my favorite characters from the 80's.  She rose a winged unicorn named Swift Wind (pictured right) and encounter a mass of other peoples.

She-ra had her own series in the 1980's as well as her brother, He-man.

Popples

Popples was an 80's toy that had the ability to flip inside out, into a ball.  They came in various colors and forms.

Also, Popples have returned recently.

Rose Petal Place

Rose Petal Place were special scented dolls.  I always loved these dolls; they smell so good, like different flowers.  Each came with a brush, outfit, hats, etc.

There are even friends and playsets.

Rainbow Brite

Rainbow Brite is another 80's toy favorite.  A toy line with lots of colors and a favorite onscreen.  Rainbow Brite had a magic rainbow belt and rode her horse Starlight (white with rainbow hair; star on forehead).

She had many friends; one of which is pictured right.

See Wees

Sea Wees were tiny mermaids and mermaid babies.  They came with various accessories and friends.

Sweet Secrets Charms

I loved these when I was a little girl.  Each Sweet Secret could change from a friend to a locket.  The Sweet Secret's head, arms, and legs could be tucked inside the locket.  They came in various forms, girls, dogs, cats, horses, etc.
