Items Never Released

There are a few items that may appear in brochures that were never actually released.  As far as I know none of these items were ever released in stores, but they did appear in brochures.  It is my opinion that these were not released; some may disagree.  If you feel that you have substantial proof that an item was release, please email me.  You'll notice that many of the faux pas are from U. S. Mail Order brochures, some are from U. K. and European brochures.

Pony Friends (NBBE first tooth Sundance, Zinna, Cornelia, Alyssa, Kendall, and another version of Molly)

The Pony Friends allegedly released in the U. K. and Europe haven't surfaced anywhere; they are much like the U. S. Pony Friends, however there were supposed to be several editions to Zig Zag, Spunky, Creamsicle and Kingsley.  The Pony Friends in the U. K. were supposed to be released with dolls plus there was also a Non Beddy Bye Eye first tooth Sundance that was never produced.  The dolls were named Zinna, Cornelia, Alyssa, Kendall, and another version of Molly.  All can be seen below.

T. J.   Everyone seems to have dreams of T. J.; as a matter of fact there are a few rumors of his existence.  I've never seen an actual T. J. though.  He is rumored to have come with Megan's Place, however, I have seen several magazine inserts of Megan's Place and he is not offer.  Someone also suggested that perhaps he came with the brown version of My Pretty Pony.  The brown My Pretty Pony did feature a special issue with Butterscotch, but not T. J.

Before you get all excited, this isn't T. J.  This is a Macau version of Peachy or Snuzzle that I digitally removed the hearts from.  I have heard of people getting this Macau with the symbols rubbed off.  Perhaps this is where some of the rumors of T. J. stem.

Sweet Ice Delight Cottage

This small snow cone machine is featured in a Year 8 brochure with Dream Beauties and Petite Ponies.  It never actually appeared in stores, though.  It is a small house and windmill ice machine that was supposed to come with a molded aqua plastic Pegasus pony and a ton of small accessories.  Supposedly, you could make snow cones from it, and then play with the pony and accessories at other times.  I have a better brochure photograph somewhere; I'll post it when I can find it.

Satin 'n Lace (Collector's Pose)

She is shown in a brochure (though you can never really see her symbol) as being in a Collector's Pose.  Oddly here eyes look the exact same color as Cotton Candy's (U. S. release); a conspiracy maybe.  :)  She was never sold in this pose, though.  Satin 'n Lace was only sold in the Posey pose, as the lavender or pink version, magenta version and So Soft version.

Others:

The Unknown Cookery Pony shown below was never produced.  She is the pink one with blue hair and gingerbread symbol.  Also Good Weather was never produced in the pose shown below.  Thanks to Inglemist for this brochure.

The Birthday Ponies Baby Sugarcake and Baby Gametime were never released as boys; they were only released as girls, but this insert shows them as males.  The boys pictured are in the same pose as Clipper.  Thanks to Twinkler for this brochure.

The Twice as Fancy Baby Ponies were never released as Peek-a-Boo Baby Ponies.  These ponies were sold as mail orders with the standard baby heads, no mobility what-so-ever.  Thanks to Twinkler for this brochure.

Prototypes

Prototypes are ponies that were made in the "testing production stage" at Hasbro's manufacturing facility in the U. S. and abroad.  These were the ponies made to test different poses and ideas that Hasbro had for production.  These were never released in stores, but you will see these pop up from time to time, here and there.  There is usually much debate as to whether a pony is an actual prototype pony.

How to tell an authentic prototype from a fake or another country issue?  Honestly, there is no sure way to know, though some of them are fairly obvious.  You have to use your own knowledge and judgment when deciding on how you feel about its authenticity.  I suggest consulting other collectors before purchasing one; other people's opinions are often invaluable.  By the way, I have no actual proof from Hasbro (basically they don't share any information on past toy lines) that these are actual prototypes.

U. S. Prototypes

I see more of these than any other type (probably because I live in the U. S.).  One of Hasbro's main manufacturing (for the U. S. My Little Pony Line) was located in Rhode Island.  I have seen many prototypes surface in Rhode Island (or fairly close to it).

Below is a prototype that that looks suspicously like Applejack without the eye paint or symbol paint.  Not all prototypes are missing their paint.  There were two like the one below, one with pink hair and one with yellow hair.

This one is from Baby Gloomy and is one of my favorites.  These Teeny Twin Ponies look similar to the actual releases but are missing the vivid coloration.  She said she purchased them from someone in Rhode Island. She has other prototypes on her page, Baby Gloomy's Crappy MLP Page.

International Prototypes

Just like prototypes that were made in the U. S., they will also appear from other countries.  Here is an odd Cotton Candy that appeared in France.  It does have a symbol, but has no eye paint.  and there are no plugs for her hair.

Displays

Click on the thumbnail images to enlarge them to full size.

A "real" My Little Pony was sited in a Toys 'R Us store in celebration of the 2003 fall line of My Little Ponies. Silly Billy spotted her and took photos. Thanks To Silly Billy for sharing this photos, she retains all copyrights. The costume is actually a generation 2 style pony, with the head and logo style.

Is this the biggest My Little Pony you've ever seen or what?  Drusilla picked this up in Canada.  Does anyone have any additional information, if so please email Drusilla.

There is also a huge display in England, if you live in England (near the display and can take pics), I would be honored to display them here.  :)  Just email me.
