issued in the U. S. Many ponies sold in the U. S. were often sold somewhere
around the world as well, sometimes with different names. They earned
the title U. S. ponies because many of the earlier collectors were from
the U. S. and used this reference point. It has become widely accepted
to refer to these as U. S. ponies and accept U. S. dates for references.
