Year 1 (1982)

Note that these ponies came in cards that simple read My Little Pony as the title. The card no whereindicated that these are "collector ponies"; this is only the name that collectors use to refer to them since they can't refer to them simply as "My Little Ponies".

These six ponies were the first official My Little Pony releases. They were sold in the U. S. and abroad. Each is an earth pony, in the collector's pose, and has various colors and symbols.

There are two types of Collector Ponies, those released in 1982 with flat hooves and those released in 1983 released with concave hooves. There are also various re-releases and there are also Mail Order versions. This can cause confusion about the actual accessories. It's still fairly simple, both the flat and concave-hooved store versions and the Mail Order versions came with the same accessories. It is only the re-releases (like Cotton Candy and Blossom, release with the Earth Ponies) that have different accessories. There are also international versions with various accessories and many internatinoal variants. The actual U. S. Pony cards depict all six Collector Ponies frolicking in front of the Show Stable. As shown on the card below.

The original standard comb is a shortened version of the My Pretty Pony comb. Each came with comb and matching colored ribbon.

*Blossom: white original comb and white ribbon

*Butterscotch: pink original comb and pink ribbon

*Cotton Candy: purple original comb and lavender ribbon

*Minty: blue original comb and blue ribbon

*Snuzzle: blue original comb and blue ribbon
